A CAC operates on the fundamental belief that the best interest of the child victim should be protected through the investigation, prosecution and beyond. Therefore, medical, mental health, investigative, and CAC professionals (as well as the district attorney’s representative) serve on the multidisciplinary team. The team goals are to minimize each child’s trauma, provide immediate and ongoing treatment and services, and to ensure proper investigation of cases.
