The crime victim’s compensation program is administered by the office of the attorney general and is dedicated to ensuring that crime victims receive all possible assistance. A Crime Victim’s Assistance coordinator helps victims and their families in filling out a crime victim application. The application is then processed through the office of the attorney general. Children who have been abused or neglected, along with their families qualify for assistance because they are innocent victims of a crime and have suffered substantial threat of physical and/or emotional harm or death. Some expenses incurred by child victims and their families may include therapeutic services, medical services, and, when necessary, relocation expenses.
