Through
referrals from law enforcement or Children’s Protective Services the
CAC serves victims (ages 0-17) of sexual and serious physical abuse
and their non-offending family members. Also served are children who
are witnesses to a crime and community members who need information
and referral assistance in the area of child abuse.
The CAC
currently provides interviews conducted in an age-appropriate
setting with emphasis on the child’s comfort, a minimal number of
interviews, and proper evidence collection. During the forensic
interview process, the investigative team observes the interview
from an adjoining room via a monitor. The completed recorded media
assists law enforcement and the district attorney’s office to pursue
filing charges and Child Protective Services to ensure victim
protection.
