When the
team deems necessary, on-site medical exams are provided by child
abuse experts. The CAC on-site medical component is made possible
through a partnership with the University of Texas Medical
Branch/Galveston. This reduces additional trauma to victimized
children.
The sexual
assault exams benefit partner agencies as
well as clients by saving
time and expense to agencies
and alleviating victim and family
stress.
In addition, expert testimony and
consultation by a
pediatric sexual
assault specialist assists the
prosecution of child
abuse
offenders.
